Competent Contractor is a RoSPA accredited contractor management service that assists a wide range of clients and principal contractors in managing contractor health safety in their supply chain.

Competent Contractor is a contractor management scheme with one central objective – to help  ensure that contractor employees who turn-up on site(s) carry out the job in hand safely.  This is simple to say, but very difficult and potentially costly to achieve in practice.   This service has been recognised by the Royal Society for Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) as having helped to set best practice, and, is used by many of the UK’s leading client and principal contractor organisations..   It involves many elements:

Competent Contractor operates both during the live running phase of a project, to help with the day-to-day monitoring of contractors as they arrive on site, as well as during the tender stage to develop a data base of approved companies who can then be appointed as contractor work arises.  These pre-qualification assessments are done by completing web forms and enable contractors to upload and store of their documents – which does away with mountains of paper work.  Site managers can then access these details online and download the documents to enable them to apply this information to their area.

This assessment process can be integrated into wider commercial vetting of your contractors and can easily form one part of the terms and conditions of working for your organisation. The pre-qualification assessment operates to nationally recognised standards for contractor health and safety and will ensure your suppliers meet the requirements of relevant regulations (including environmental protection) as well as providing the information you need.
